POEMS FOR CHILDREN
And their wonderful world of imagination
( Especially for Leonie ) I have a little teddy bear And Teddy sleeps with me And Teddy is so cuddly He's just as cuddly as can be I have to carry Teddy Because he's much too young to walk But each night when we get into bed We have a real good talk I have a very special mummy My mummy really cares Each night she tucks us into bed And helps us say our prayers Then, mummy thinks we'll go to sleep But that just isn't true Because after we have said our prayers There's lots of things to do We discuss the things that's happened In our very busy day And we even talk about the things That happened yesterday Then through our bedroom window The stars are shining bright So my Teddy and I count them We count them every night We count every single star For as far as we can see But Teddy counts them better He can count higher than me We could see more from the window But Teddy told me mummy said That if we want to count the stars We must do it from our bed And through our bedroom window We can see old mister moon Some day we'd like to visit him But it wont be very soon One day we'll build a ladder That will go as high as high Our ladder will be tall enough To reach up to the sky And when we've climbed our ladder As high as we can go I'll shake hands with Mr. Moon And Teddy bear will say "Hello" But that won't be until we're all grown up And growing up is slow But Teddy bear has promised That one day we'll surely go I know when Teddy's sleepy Because he nods his sleepy head So to make sure that he gets his rest We'll snuggle into bed Tomorrow we will go exploring And find secrets we can keep We hope tomorrow comes real quickly But for now, it's off to sleep K.D.
