POEMS FOR CHILDREN
And their wonderful world of imagination
When I wake up each morning Sweet thoughts run through my head And while I enjoy these thoughts I stay snuggled up in bed Because morning is the time That fills my heart with cheer I think of all the gifts Life gives to me each year There are enough gifts in just living To fill the largest book We take too many gifts for granted And there's some we overlook There's the gift of health and happiness And the gift of being free There's the gift of quiet contentment When I sit at my Mummy's knee There's the gift of love that lifts me On the days when I feel blue It always drives away the sadness Knowing someone cares for you There's the gift of having shelter From both the heat and cold There's the gift of treasured memories That are worth much more than gold There's the gifts of Mother nature Of trees and streams and such And dogs and cats and horses I love them all so much But of all the gifts I treasure The best gift that I've had Are the people that I idolise My wondrous Mum and Dad K.D.
