SPRING
The liquid jewels of melting snow Replenish mountain streams And plants that vanished in autumn Awaken from wintery dreams Birds are busily building nests And sweet are the songs they sing As they proclaim in a lilting voice That this is the dawning of spring Deep in the forests the scented air Caresses the stately trees While blooms with wondrous nectar Seduce the vibrant bees The land is blessed with a beauty That only nature can bring As sunbeams thaw the frozen earth For this is the magic of spring Lands that were bare and dreary Are clothed in a verdent green And countless hues of wildflower Bedeck the rural scene Nature's beauty is on display And true to her task she will cling New life will flourish throughout the land For this is the promise of spring K.D.
