Forgive me for having the impudence to include a personal pages on this
site. These are just a few of the numerous poems I have written at various times while thinking about people who have enriched my life. |
This poem was written for a wonderful little five year old who lives in County Durham, England. She fell in love with two dogs, Haji and Niki, in a story I wrote for my own children many years ago. In the story, the dogs claim to be vagabond bandits. The poem is supposedly written by the two dogs she is so fond of. |
Haji (Doberman) Niki (Jack Russell Terrier)
From Haji and Niki
A little girl so wondrous That now each day we find This little girl named Amber Is always on our mind A little girl so charming So gentle and so mild With such a loving nature She is Mother Nature's child She fills this world with sunshine She banishes the cold Her loved ones know her value She's a treasure to behold Your parents are so fortunate Grandma and Grandpa too Their hearts are overflowing With the wonder that is you This world becomes a wonderland It's such a wondrous place Each time your loved ones gaze upon The beauty in your face We're The Vagabond Bandits And though we're dogs, it's true We have put our heads together To write this verse for you We pray that health and happiness Will be yours all your life And that God will smile down on you And protect you from all strife We hope success will reign supreme In every thing you do For we doubt this world has ever known A girl as sweet as you This world is so much richer For the love you have to give And you will dwell within our hearts In each day that we live You have made our hearts so happy With your gentility and charms Now, your pretty face has pride of place Upon our Coat of Arms And although we're in Australia And our lands are far apart You will always be here with us For we have you in our heart. With the sincerest love from, Haji and Niki Amber's dog Gratch (Staffordshire Terrier) (Photo by Amber) My thanks to Amber's Grandmother for supplying me with the above photograph and informing me of Amber's love for Haji and Niki.
