Treasures of Life

The Treasures of Life

THE TREASURES OF LIFE

The treasures of this wondrous world
Are beyond man's realm of 'worth'
And they're free to every creature
That walks this planet Earth

We need not sulk in shadows
Everyone may feel the sun
Take in all that nature offers
'Til our span on earth is done

The softness of a rainbow
That paints a summer sky
Just one of this life's treasures
So pleasing to the eye

The cool green grass that beckons you
Beside a shady stream
To gaze on sparkling water
Where sunbeams dance and gleam

The beauty of majestic stone
That hugs a mountain face
White clouds that drift above the peaks
With a restful, soothing grace

The refreshing winter breezes
That set the cheeks aglow
With messages of greeting
From mountains capped with snow

The gentle kiss of summer showers
That cool the heart and soul
That wash away a stressful day
And make the spirit whole

To wander through the bushland
Where the wildlife live and play
The beauty in the wildflowers
That greet you on the way

The music in the booming waves
That thrills the heart in me
As they reinforce the wonder
And the vastness of the sea

To paddle in its waters
With the cool sand at your feet
A hidden world's uncovered
As the tide is in retreat

To gaze upon your children
Perhaps life's greatest prize
You're filled with true emotion
And a love you can't disguise

The softness and the rapture
That is far beyond compare
As we gaze upon the innocence
Of a young child knelt in prayer

To watch children open presents
In an early Christmas morn
Fills a parent with contentment
Makes you glad that you were born

The aroma of your favourite meal
That seems to fill the air
As you look on family faces
And see love in every chair

To feel the energy that courses
Through a busy, city street
To know that life is individual
In each face that you meet

You can increase the joy of living
Feel the wonder life can be
View the treasures that surround us
That some folk seldom pause to see

To look up at the heavens
Study sun, and moon, or star
And be constantly reminded
Of how small we really are

I find beauty in the sunrise
And in every sunset too
And in the golden bloom of wattle
And the early morning dew

In the stately trees that shade us
In a puppy's happy pant
In the veins that feed the smallest leaf
In natures smallest plant

I bless the wonders that surround me
Enchantment's there for those who seek
I'm enthralled with nature's magic
Every day in every week

In the green sward of a valley
In a thunderous waterfall
And the cry of newborn babies
The most exciting sound of all

In the fall of leaves in Autumn
And even on a busy street
I feel I walk on nature's carpet
As they swirl beneath my feet

And the beauty and the majesty
That's in a horse's face
And to observe on frosty mornings
The spider's wondrous lace

To gaze upon a baby lamb
A pleasure hard to beat
To watch it wag its little tail
And hear its tiny bleat

And a treasured, fun-filled moment
That this life on earth can bring
Is to watch a little kitten
Playing with a ball of string

The pride within a guide dog
As it treads its measured pace
And the beauty of the confidence
Within its owners face

And it may be just coincidence
But I don't think that it's odd
Our most loving, faithful animal
When spelled backwards; it spells God

The velvet touch of mossy rocks
Winter's chill upon your nose
The crackle of a friendly fire
The sweet smell of a rose

To watch the mist rise off a river
As a new day is begun
To watch the mountains shed their shadows
As they greet the morning sun

Nature has so many treasures
She gives freely every day
When we take time to absorb them
We are enriched in every way

The feathered hues of birdlife
Sing songs so proud and clear
In voices blessed by heaven
The sweetest songs you'll hear

The green ferns on a mountain side
And the sweeping, waving plain
That was once hid by the ocean
And is now a field of grain

To awaken every morning
And seek what nature has in store
A wondrous world of treasure
Awaits outside your door

The buzzing sound the bee makes
As it raids a garden plant
The beauty of a butterfly
The strength within an ant

There's so many sights of wonderment
On which to feast our eyes
And the scents and sounds of nature
Are gifts we all should prize

The excitement in just guessing
The first word your child will say
The pleasant chirp of crickets
And the scent of new mown hay

We won't be here forever
Just one life we have to live
We should explore the pure emotions
Inner nature has to give

Time itself is treasure
You can't put it on the shelf
Use some time to view life's wonders
And enrich your inner self

I'm so grateful every moment
That through my father's wife
'Nature' breathed into my body
This treasure we call life
